Ella and Derrick had a beautiful ethereal summer wedding at the Inn at Willow Grove in Orange County, Virginia. Ella grew up at Woodberry Forest School, a boarding school near the Inn at Willow Grove. Her parents were teachers there and so she lived on the campus. When she moved away, a part of her always missed the beauty and home feeling of the area. The year prior to their wedding, Ella and Derrick had a Chinese style wedding, to celebrate his heritage. When she began planning their American style wedding, she really wanted it to be near where she grew up.

Ella knew she wanted to do something different than a lot of the styles she was seeing in the bridal magazines. Her inspiration was by all of the gorgeous imagery from the Lord of the Rings movies. How fun is that?! They used a lot of greenery, moss, wood and succulents to create that forest-like feeling. They highlighted those base elements with metallic silver accents, such as silver lanterns and softly lit mercury glass votives. Their overall color palette was silver, sage green, mauve-lavender and deep purple which we loved. Ella and Derrick had a wedding full of mosses, succulents, fairy lights, silver filigree lantern and organic branches. It was a decorated beautifully by her close family friend who handled the flowers and decor! This special friend also sewed her mom’s sapphire engagement ring into her bouquet. Ella’s mom designed the whole tent area which was so lovely! Southern Blooms did a wonderful job creating a 12 foot tree in the lounge area that had lighted orbs hanging from it.
